Episode 75: Writing About Sex, Trauma, and the Body with Jamie Hood


Jessie Sage talks to Jamie Hood about her debut book, How to Be a Good Girl. They discuss writing about sex and trauma, leaving academia, sex work, trans identity, love, and more.

Jamie Hood is a poet, essayist, memoirist, & miscellanyist. Her work has appeared in The Rumpus, Peach Mag, The New Inquiry, Teen Vogue, and Tansgender Studies Quarterly. Jamie lives, writes, bartends, & dog moms in Brooklyn. How to Be a Good Girl is her first book. 

Episode 34: Liara Roux on Coming Out



Episode 34 features an interview with sex worker, activist, producer, and director Liara Roux. We talk to them about their activism around internet freedom for sex workers, starting with their “Open Letter to Patreon.” And, on a more personal note, we discuss their recent Motherboard article, “Coming Out as a Sex Worker, Coming Out as a Person” and the impact it had on their personal life and career.

Episode 15: Theorizing the Web Special: Sex Emojis with Kelly Steinmetz, Catfishing with Mattie Brice, and Gay Tinder with Lindsay Ferris


You interviews with three conference speakers who we thought were doing work relevant to the show. First, we talk to Kelly Steinmetz about the use and social impact of sex emojis. Then, we talk to Mattie Brice about the politics of how trans women are treated on dating sites. And lastly, we talk to Lindsay Ferris about the ways that women queer tech up, particularly in relation to dating apps like Tinder.

Episode 12: AVN Special:FOSTA/SESTA with Kate D’Adamo, Gay Porn with Westley Woods, and Trans Representation with Chelsea Poe


We go back to the AVN expo floor and interview Westley Woods (@thewestleywoods) about his career in gay porn and the new iWantGayClips division of iWantEmpire. 

Lastly, we talk to Chelsea Poe (@chelseapoe666) from Trouble Films (@troublefilms) about the petition she initiated to remove trans slurs from mainstream porn, her career and the projects she is working on, and why she thinks that collaboration among performers is the best way to avoid exploitation in the industry.

Episode 9: AVN Special: Lynn Comella on Female Owned Sex Toy Shops & Dominic Rystan on Being a Non-Binary Porn Performer


We interview Dominic Rystan (@DomTheStud), a non-binary content creator and performer with a clip store on ManyVids (@Manyvids). He sat and talked to us about the complicated politics of having a clip store on Manyvids as a non-binary performer. We dive into his story, into the politics of gender identity on the site, and the implication this has for non-binary performers.
