Beautiful Agony and Serene Self-Pleasure

by Peepshow Media
July 16, 2020

A diverse cast of contributors reveal their orgasm faces—a unique take on porn that’s as hot as it is intriguing.

Beautiful Agony (aka Le Petit Mort) provides a different take on erotic film, one that strips away the explicit body-focus of traditional pornography. The site is filled with films made by amateur contributors—recording themselves reaching orgasm with the camera focused solely on their faces, no nudity allowed. This restriction and the uniform framing of the films creates an interesting experiment in visual stimulation as we can’t see their hands or usual sexual parts; instead, focus on their facial expressions, their movements, their sounds. We’re encouraged to scrutinize their faces for pleasure— recognizing the tensing, the furrowed brows, the shortness of breath, the flushed cheeks, and the eventual moaning (or quiet) climax. It’s fascinating, slightly academic, awkwardly intimate, and hot as hell.

The site navigation is an interesting experience in itself—visitors are faced with a tile grid of numbered (rather than named) stills of faces and thousands of films to choose from. You can filter by male, female, or trans/nonbinary, or just flick through “everybody” and pick a face that catches your eye—like Tinder for cum faces.

Each “Agony” (climax) film is accompanied by a short Q&A “Confessions” film with the contributor—answering questions about their approach to masturbation, their kinks, their sexuality and gender journeys. This addition adds to the feeling of intimacy—sharing a truly personal moment with someone and then learning more about them. It’s like those quiet moments after having sex with someone for the first time, when you can ask the questions you wanted to, but couldn’t until you’d crossed that threshold.

At first glance this format feels seems it might be awkward—and it sometimes is, with contributors looking self-consciously at the camera. But, overall, it feels more intimate and human than anxious. There’s no concern for perfect bodies, groomed genitals, or contorted positions, as great as these can be in conventional porn. These are real people, lying back, closing their eyes, pleasuring themselves with hands or toys, and allowing themselves to reach climax, taking however long it takes (though usually between 5 and 15 minutes).

I found myself becoming invested in these people’s orgasms, willing them on, becoming excited when their faces screwed up and their chests got red and they came, gasping and sweating. The camera stays on them a little longer, as they sleepily smile at the absurdity of what they just did. This afterglow is gorgeous—real and emotional.

There’s even a “Friends” section, featuring people framed the same way, but coming together—either through sex or mutual masturbation. These are adorable moments of connection. There’s something special about seeing someone smile with love when their partner comes.

Beautiful Agony is a uniquely sexy experiment, encouraging us to challenge our own assumptions around what constitutes porn and what visual stimulus we actually need to get off. It turns out that it’s totally possible to get turned on by a face alone, and it’s something anyone can try: masturbate along with a person you’re attracted to and allow yourself to embrace the beauty of a face expressing pleasure.

While the site has a massive library to choose from, with contributors from all over the world, one thing I’d like to see is a bit more diversity in the faces presented. Contributors are predominantly white, but sexy comes in all shades. Nevertheless, Beautiful Agony is a sweet, tender and sexy way to explore pleasure, one beautiful face at a time.
